FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: Robert Barr Chair, Board of Directors, IGEL (770) 830-5800 Atlanta, Georgia – February 13, 2006 Thirty-one representatives from agriculture, forestry, business, education, environmental organizations, government, and civic groups have been selected for the fifth anniversary class of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership (IGEL) www.igelleaders.com a program dedicated to building and sustaining a diverse network of environmentally educated leaders who will help resolve Georgia's environmental challenges.

 

'The 2006 class will join the ranks of the 120 leaders from across the state who have previously completed the program.' said Robert Barr, current Chairman of IGEL and also Chairman of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners. 'As they return to their respective communities they form a network of enlightened leaders with a broader awareness of environmental issues and a better understanding of each other’s views.'

The program is facilitated by faculty at the Fanning Institute at the University of Georgia. IGEL participants will attend four sessions held in different locations throughout the state beginning in May and concluding in November 2006. Nominations are now being accepted for the Class of 2007.
