Melaver, Inc. To Unveil LEED Gold at Abercorn Comm
September 23, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Melaver, Inc. To Unveil LEED Gold at Abercorn Common McDonald’s SAVANNAH, GA – On Wednesday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m., Melaver, Inc. will unveil the LEED Gold Plaque at the Abercorn Common McDonald’s at 7979 White Bluff Road. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a designation certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Representatives from McDonald’s and Melaver, Inc. will be on hand for the unveiling. Some of the sustainable features of the new restaurant include: bike racks for employees and customers, preferred parking for low emission hybrid vehicles, a porous pavement, which allows storm water to benefit the soil instead of draining into the sewer system, a reduction in water use, a white roof that reflects heat, keeping the building cooler in the warmer months and reducing energy costs, and windows that allow daylight to reach 75 percent of the interior of the restaurant, reducing lighting costs. The Abercorn Common shopping center was the first all retail project in the United States to become LEED certified in April, 2006 by the U.S. Green Building Council. Abercorn Common is part of Melaver, Inc.’s sustainable property portfolio and is located at the intersection of White Bluff and Abercorn. |
