MELAVER, INC., ANNOUNCES PURCHASE OF ENTERPRISE MILL IN AUGUSTA, GA.

Savannah Real Estate Developer Attracted to Sustainably Designed Property

(Augusta, Ga.) Savannah-based sustainable real estate developer Melaver, Inc., today announced the purchase of Enterprise Mill (The Mill) in Augusta, Ga., a restoration & redevelopment project located adjacent to the Augusta Canal near downtown Augusta. Citing the sustainable attributes of the property and the strong leadership of former owner Clay Boardman, CEO Martin Melaver said plans to further ‘green’ the development will be aided by the continuing involvement of Boardman and his team at The Mill.

“Enterprise Mill is not only an important historic project, its restoration and redevelopment are important for the future of Augusta’s economy,” said Melaver. “We look forward to building on the environmental success of The Mill, and to continuing The Mill’s integration within the community and with community organizations. It is a triple bottom line investment for our company.”

About Enterprise Mill
Enterprise Mill is a multi-use development consisting of professional offices, residential loft apartments, and retail space. James L. Coleman, an Augusta farmer, first developed the Enterprise Mill in 1848 as a flour milling operation. He built the mill with two overshot waterwheels that drove burrstones, a sawmill in an adjacent wood frame building, and various other machinery, for a cost of $40,000. Of those original buildings, only the granite mill remains. The mill changed hands over the years and was most recently owned by The Graniteville Company-Enterprise Division, and was in operation until it officially closed its doors on March 23, 1983.

Redevelopment at Enterprise Mill was spearheaded Clay Boardman and his team. Sustainable aspects attractive to Melaver include the generation of “green” power through water turbines operated by the Augusta Canal Authority. “We also plan to further the principles of green building at The Mill,” explains Melaver Director of Portfolio Management Scott Doksansky. “There is a great infrastructure in place for reducing power demand, water conservation, using green materials for painting/cleaning/sealants, and recycling waste. Additionally, in conjunction with Clay,we plan to finish the “Rock Mill” area of the development.
