BOMA International was founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers. The association assumed its present name in 1968 as it broadened its reach to include Canada and other affiliates around the globe. Today, BOMA International represents nearly 100 North American and nine overseas affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and South Africa. BOMA's North American membership represents a combined total of more than nine billion square feet of downtown and suburban commercial properties and facilities.

BEEP: BOMA International’s BOMA Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP) is a six-course series designed to educate the commercial real estate industry about no-cost and low-cost methods for lowering buildings’ energy use. BOMA also has launched the Green Resource Energy and Environmental Network that offers resources and the checklist “30 Easy Ways to Save Energy.”
