As Assistant Controller, Karen oversees the day-to-day activities of our accounting function, including payables, receivables, and the information systems to support Melaver's diverse portfolio. Karen is also responsible for overseeing the firm’s Risk Management and Human Resources functions, providing direct oversight of firm policies and payroll while coordinating with outside professionals on benefits, compliance, and personnel relations. Karen runs a family livestock farm in her spare time with her husband Patrick. Karen won the 2002 & 2005 Melaver Core value award for Ethical Behavior and is LEED 2.0 accredited. Karen is the recipient of the 2006 Melaver Core Value for Profitability.

When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Pharmacist

What makes you laugh?
Generally it is pretty random.  Something off the wall just hits me and I start laughing hysterically.  

What are you most proud of?
My family. 

What green items would you like to incorporate into your life?

I would like to see a recycling program in my county so I could stop hauling my trash into the office.   

If you could be reincarnated, who or what would you like to come back as?

A house cat….sitting around all day looking out the window and eating 

Would you do it all again?

Sure.  I have had some incredible experiences (and some hard lessons) but have met some wonderful people over the years.
